What is Reiki?

Have you ever seen Star Wars? Reiki is kind of like “the force”. Believe it or not, I only recently watched Star Wars (the first episode only), which happened to be 2 years after learning Reiki.  I was in disbelief and absolute shock about how unfamiliar people are with Reiki in comparison to those familiar with The Force.

Reiki is universal life force energy that is ever present and divine. Reiki can be transferred across/through time and space. As a form of alternative medicine, the energy work of Reiki is used in conjunction with “modern” medicine and other therapies to support the client’s healing. Reiki is healing, harmonizing, and balancing.

What is a session like?

The sessions are held at either the client’s home or any other peaceful place. I encourage my clients to hydrate prior to the session. The sessions begin with the client lying down or sitting comfortably. Once the client is comfortable, the energy is then administered through the hands of the practitioner to the client. The practitioner is merely a channel for the life force energy to flow through; the practitioner holds space for the client, allowing them to receive the divine energy, healing themselves.

During the session, practitioners use symbols to “super charge” the Reiki energy. The client may feel sensations such as tingling or temperature changes, emotions, or perhaps nothing at all. 

The force knows no time or space, Reiki can be sent to you whilst at your home! We could also set up a time for you to be undisturbed and comfortable. I would use a surrogate, such as a stuffed animal or pillow to stand-in as you, and send you the Reiki.

What is Reiki used for?

Reiki can be used to alleviate emotional and physical distress. Since it is divine energy, Reiki can be sent to a past or future circumstance such as a traumatic event, an upcoming surgery, or even a "bank account" to save for a rainy day.
